I’m usually great at buying presents for everybody, but this year when Christmas was coming around, my mind was drawing a complete blank on unique gift ideas. I didn’t want to start treating my friends and families to dull gifts- I never want to be the guy who is treating everybody to socks because they can’t think of anything better to get. So when searching online for things to get everybody in my life, I was completely struggling.
The hardest person to buy for was my older brother. Although we get along like a house on fire, we have no shared interests, so trying to find the perfect gift is a nightmare. Every single week it seems like he’s posting videos on Facebook of him and his mates taking part in some new extreme sport craze, so buying him vouchers to one of those venues would make sense. However, if he keeps taking part in new things so often, there is a very likely chance he’ll find whatever gift I get him boring by comparison. What do you buy a man whose tried everything?
When looking on The Activity People’s website for the best activity to choose from, I noticed that they offered gift vouchers. This would make for the perfect present; it would make sure he got to take part in something he loved, but he would be able to choose which sport for himself. I would definitely choose something that wasn’t exciting to him, so I couldn’t have asked for a better gift idea.
When Christmas came around, he was over the moon to receive an Activity People gift voucher. Before he’d even finished unwrapping presents from the rest of the family, he was trying to get in touch with his mates to see if they were up to go on another adventure. I was surprised they even picked up the phone- for adrenaline junkies, it turns out that taking part in extreme sports is more important than sitting through Christmas dinner!
A few weeks later, I got a text from my brother thanking me for treating him to the gift voucher. He’d been bungee jumping and could now tick another sport off his to-do list. He loved the present that much, I know exactly what I’m going to be treating him to when his birthday comes round. Thanks to the Activity People, buying him presents has been made easier.
