The Gap + Natural Wonders

Take in the 360 degree views of the coastline from the summit of Stoney Hill. Walk in bushland abundant in wildflowers; hakea, acacia, banksia, dryandra, adenanthus, agonis. Absorb the vast expanse of the Southern Ocean. Take in the rugged coastline that early explorers first encountered as they rounded the peninsula for the sheltered waters of Princess Royal Harbour. Visit scenic viewpoints, beaches and bays. Enjoy a walk in nature and wildflowers, see Misery Beach and Frenchman Bay.
Travel on to the cove from where sailing boats launch into the quiet harbour before one more view from the Albany Wind Farm to Mutton Bird Island. Looking across the vibrant City of Albany, the granite formations of the Stirling and Porongurup Ranges are visible in the distance. Complete your journey and exploration of the impressive coastline with a relaxing refreshment.
Get closer to the edge! At The Gap, feel the power of the wind and water from the masterfully crafted, protected walkway lookout over The Gap. See the pounding waves as they thrash the granite walls and surge through the spaces. Feel the exhilarating force in your body; taste the salt spray on your lips, breathe in the invigorating fresh air!

Wonderful day full of great views! Picked up directly from Albany Visitor Centre and stopped at several spots for photo opportunities. Went to Stoney Hill and climbed to the top of a massive rock for 360 degree views - we had on hiking shoes and Teva walking sandals so had no difficulty. We stopped at Fisherman Bay - another great photo and the opportunity to plunge your hand/foot into the ocean if you wanted to check out the temperature. The Gap was awesome and would love to see it on a stormy day! Also stopped at the Whaling Museum for a delicious tea & scone and to check out the gift shop and our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the whaling industry. Our last stop was the wind turbines - again we had a great guide who was able to share some great insights. If you want to see a bit of the local area in a small group setting with great photo opportunities, this is a great choice- so much more enjoyable than doing it on your own.
Guests are asked to bring their own water in a recyclable container. Please help us reduce single use plastic in our pristine environment.
