Overnight Experiences Arles-sur-Tech

A condensed version of the 7 day Pirinexus tour, the average daily distance is 87.5km, but the rewards are well worth it! Riding across the border between Spain and France (twice!) you will get a cross-cultural experience and mountain views that will take your breath away.
Accompanied by Chris from Pyrenees Cycling Club you will get an informative tour, with plenty of local historical and cultural information to give you the full Catalan experience.
Starting in the cycling 'mecca' of Girona, we will ride along old railway lines to the Alta Garrotxa volanic region before riding over the Col d'Ares into France, including a night at Pyrenees Cycling Club HQ in the Haut Vallespir area of the Pyrenees-Orientales. Riding east towards the Mediterranean we will climb up to Fort Bellegarde on the border and have a chance to view the old Roman road traversed thousands of years ago, before descending back into Spain and heading for the Costa Brava. A couple of days exploring the Mediterranean coast and the flat plains that host fruit farms and maize fields, before heading back to Girona.

A gravel cycling adventure, done differently: explore hidden valleys, ride on quiet roads and tracks and soak up the unique culture of French Catalonia, safe in the knowledge that you won't be roughing it at the end of the day. Rides start and end at our comfortable farmhouse nestled in the forest, surrounded by birdsong and the peaceful sounds of the babbling stream and a stunning infinity pool to cool off in after an exciting day of exploration. And the hearty home-cooked meal is the 'cerise sur le gateau' (the cherry on the cake!)
Typical daily rides average 35-50km, which may not sound far, but the average elevation gain can be over 1000m on a mix of tarmac and gravel. Rest-assured, your effort will be well rewarded with stunning views in remote locations, well off the beaten track and undiscovered by mass-market cycle tourism.

Starting in the Eastern foothills of the Pyrenees at Pyrenees Cycling Club HQ, our secluded French farmhouse, we will ride to the Mediterranean coast to the stunning town of Collioure, popular with impressionist artists, before crossing the border into Spain. Winding down the stunning Costa Brava we will overnight in the bustling seaside town of Roses, before continuing to ride south taking in the ruins of an Ancient Greek port in Empuries. The rugged pine-covered cliffs of Tamariu will welcome us for our penultimate night before we head inland through apple orchards to finish in the Catalan city of cycling, Girona.



This holiday is ideal for cyclists of all levels, combining road and gravel tracks providing a gentle introduction to gravel biking for those looking to try it for the first time. Group size is maximum 8, so a perfect size to get to know each other and make new friends. As a friend and client once said, the experience we offer is ‘dinner party, not coach party’! Whether you bring a friend or travel solo, you will find a welcoming group of friends who always rides to the pace of the slowest rider. Our local expert will accompany you for the whole tour, taking care of everything so you can relax and enjoy the ride!
