Known as Chorley's mini Lake District, this country park is set within the western edge of the West Pennine Moors, which is 90 square miles of magnificent moorland scenery.
Our professional mountain bike instructors offer first-class mountain bike courses for mountain bikers of all levels - from youths to more mature riders!
Training takes place throughout the week and at weekends. Courses also available on trails in the Howgills and the Lake District.

Our Rivington mountain biking site has ample car parking, with full training on hand if necessary. Equipment hire is available, although you can bring your own bike if you wish.

Taster Session Skills Course

The aim of this course is to introduce the participant to the basic techniques required in off-road mountain biking. Learn simple techniques to improve balance and control, how to set off safely, starting on a hill, basics on gears, safe use of brakes.
Bring your own bike. It is strongly recommended that the bike be fully serviced by a competent person prior to the course. Mountain Bike Skills suggest all riders using their own bike to bring with them a spare set of brake pads/blocks.
We also have a selection of bikes for hire starting form as little as £15 per day for a basic hard-tail mountain bike with suspension forks.
No experience needed but you will need a basic level of fitness which can be gained by a few aerobic work-outs per week on the run-up to the course: riding outdoors, stationary bike or spinning classes are perfect
Starts at 9.30am and finishes at 1pm (approx).

Beginners Mountain Biking

No off-road experience is necessary. The aim of this course is to introduce the participant to the basic techniques required in off-road mountain biking. Completion of this course, will equip the participant with the skills necessary to successfully ride many of the permissible natural and purpose-built trails in the UK and Europe The course will develop the rider's ability and confidence and will also introduce and reinforce safety awareness.
