Hanging Rock E-Bike Adventure: Best Blue Mountains Lookout
The Destination: A Natural Phenomenon - in Blackheath (10mins from Katoomba)
At the end of the Burramoko Ridge fire trail lies Baltzers Lookout, home to the infamous Hanging Rock. Earning its reputation as the best lookout in the Blue Mountains, this is raw, unfiltered nature. There are no safety fences or tourist crowds here—just a massive, cantilevered slice of sandstone jutting out over an enormous drop. Standing at eye-level with this colossal rock formation, with sweeping, uninterrupted views across the vast Grose Valley, is a bucket-list moment that looks even better in person than it does on Instagram. You can always stay safe, just keep 3 meter distance from the cliff edges.
The Journey: Why Stroll When You Can Roll?
To get to Hanging Rock, you have two choices: a punishing 15km round-trip hike that takes half the day, or an absolute joyride on our top-tier electric mountain bikes. This e-bike adventure, will be so much fun, and will leave you energised, allowing you to add Blackheath premiere hike, The Grand Canyon, which can now be done after lunch... what super bike and hike combination!!! If you can ride a bike safely, you can do this—no prior mountain biking experience is necessary. Our 100% legal, Australian-standard pedal-assist e-bikes flatten every hill, meaning you glide to the cliff edge without breaking a sweat, saving your energy for the rest of your holiday.
The Advantage: 100% Engagement, Zero Waiting
While rock climbing, canyoning, and abseiling are popular, they come with a hidden reality: you spend half your day standing around waiting for the rest of your group to clear a rope or navigate a ledge. Not here. From the second you jump on the saddle, you are 100% engaged. There are no queues, no waiting for the slowest person, and no tight schedules. It is an intimate experience just for you and your riding partners, flowing at your own pace.
The "Better Rider" Experience
You aren't just renting a bike; you are getting a masterclass. Before you arrive, we supply a link to our exclusive safety and skills briefing video—teaching the vital riding fundamentals that 95% of cyclists never learn. On the day, we reinforce this with an in-person briefing, trail tips, and a proper helmet fitting, ensuring you leave us as a better, safer rider. It’s the level of care that has earned us nearly 500 5-star Google Reviews.
How It Works (Logistics & Flexibility):
We operate a premium mobile delivery service, meeting you right near the trailhead in Blackheath (this requires a minimum of 4 riders total across all bookings for the day to run). Only booking for two? No problem! If the mobile minimum isn’t met, we offer a highly flexible DIY Pick-Up service right in Katoomba (by appointment only). Operating out of a local main-street hotel, our Katoomba overflow storage means your ride can still go ahead with flexible start times.
What’s Included:
E-bike (kids bikes available from 135cm), helmet, custom bike fitting (where possible) , safety briefing, and riding tips.
Extras Package Included: Gloves, puncture repair kit, spare tube, and a combination lock.
Highlights
The Ultimate Destination: Gaze eye-to-eye with Hanging Rock, a massive, unfenced sandstone phenomenon jutting over the Grose Valley.

Effortless Access: Swap a gruelling 4-hour, 15km hike for an easy, breathtaking e-bike cruise that saves your legs for the rest of your trip.
Become a Better Rider: Includes our pre-arrival skills video and an in-person masterclass so you ride safer and smarter (backed by 500+ 5-star Google Reviews!).

Narrow Neck Plateau Trail E-Bike Adventure - Katoomba, Blue Mountains (Intermediate)
Narrow Neck Plateau is one of the most beautiful rides in the Blue Mountains, and one most visitors never get to see. This long sandstone ridge runs south from Katoomba with sheer cliffs on both sides: the Megalong Valley drops away to the west, the Jamison Valley to the east, and the landscape keeps changing beneath your wheels as you ride. Even the trees change along the way.
At the end of the trail near Tarros Ladders, the view opens up over a huge expanse of wilderness, stretching out toward Lake Burragorang and the Kanangra-Boyd wilderness. Keep your eyes open along the way too: there's plenty of birdlife, lizards sunning themselves on the trail, and if you're lucky, a lyrebird.
Is This Ride for You?
This is an intermediate ride: 30km return from our Katoomba town centre pickup, with around 850m of climbing, on a wide fire trail. You don't need to be an experienced mountain biker. Plenty of our riders are simply people who feel confident on a bike, and the e-bike takes care of the hard work on the climbs.
The trail surface does include loose rock and some steep sections, so ride at your own pace. If a hill looks too steep, jump off and walk your bike down it. That's always a smart move, and there's no shame in it.
This ride is suited to adults and older teens, with a minimum rider height of 150cm.
Want the big views with less climbing? Our Hanging Rock ride is a gentler option, with one of the most spectacular lookouts in the mountains.
Prefer a regular mountain bike for the full workout? Standard mountain bikes are available on request.
Before Your Ride
The evening before your ride, we'll email you everything you need:
- A map pin to our pickup point at Katoomba Town Centre Motel, 218-224 Katoomba Street, a 3-minute walk from Katoomba Station
- A link to your online waiver, which must be completed before you ride
- Our safety and skills video series: five videos covering bike-riding fundamentals, how to ride more safely and confidently, and how to change a tyre tube
How Your Ride Starts
Meet-and-greet in Katoomba: We'll meet you at Katoomba Town Centre Motel to fit you to your bike, helmet and gloves, go over the safety briefing from your videos, and run through the route with you before you set off.
Bike hub pickup: If we're not able to meet you in person, we can arrange by prior agreement to have your bikes ready at our bike hub at the same motel, so you can collect them and go.
Your Route
Navigation is simple: you'll get a map pin that takes you all the way to Tarros Ladders at the end of the trail.
Ride out of town to Cliff Drive and down Glenraphael Drive to the start of the fire trail. The access road is currently closed to cars, so from here it's just you, other riders and walkers.
Follow the ridge south along the plateau, stopping wherever the views grab you. Then turn around and enjoy it in reverse. This is an out-and-back ride, so the climbs you earned on the way out become fast, fun descents on the way home.
On your return, you can detour along Cliff Drive to Echo Point and the Three Sisters before dropping your bike back in town.
Why an E-Bike?
On foot, the full Narrow Neck trail is a long, hard day. On an e-bike you'll reach the end of the plateau and be back in Katoomba with energy to spare, enjoying the views instead of just surviving the hills. If you've already done the popular walks, or you want more adventure than a lookout without the commitment of canyoning or abseiling, this is the ride.
What's Included
- E-bike (standard mountain bike available on request)
- Helmet and gloves
- Bike and helmet fitting (meet-and-greet rides)
- Online safety and skills video series
- Map pin navigation to Tarros Ladders
- Puncture repair kit and spare tube

Weather and Trail Conditions
Narrow Neck is exposed, and high winds, storms or park closures can make it unsafe. If conditions aren't right on the day, we'll suggest an alternative ride or reschedule your booking.

NOTE: This is a tough but rewarding ride with amazing views. If your skills are not that great, you should check out the Hanging Rock ride with its amazing views...but without the big hills!
The spectacular Narrowneck trail follows a ridge-line deep into the valley, offering exhilarating scenic views across the Megalong Valley in the world heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park.
Setting out from Katoomba, we do a short ride on tarmac road and then hit the dirt and head deep into the undulating trails of this un-spoilt wilderness area of the Megalong and Jamison Valleys. This ride like most in the Blueys, is an out and back
