Come tour with us on our Segways as we undertake a 90 minute tour in time and tradition. The tour begins at Segs by the Sea on Historic Bridge Street. We’ll visit the Maritime Museum housed in the 1912 Schoolhouse located on the park like grounds of the Cortez Nature Preserve. Here you will find the Banks Shell collection, ship models, historic boats and a surprise butterfly garden .
After touring the Museum, we will ride around the Cortez commercial fishing village that was founded in the 1880s. The Preserve, located in the village encompasses over 100 acres. For hundreds of years this site has survived as an important fisheries habitat fondly referred to as "the kitchen." Learning the history of this area will make you appreciate the beauty and resources of Florida’s historic Gulf Coast.
