Central Park Photo Safari
Join us for day time photo tour in Central Park any time of the year. Every year New York City experiences 4 distinct seasons and as the seasons change so does Central Park. In the Fall the trees begin to change colors and the park is flush with trees of yellow and orange colors. As winter approaches the bare trees reveal a stark look and with the snow Central Park becomes a winter wonderland. Once spring arrives the trees are full of cherry blossoms and the gardens are full of tulips and the like. In the Summer visitors to the park enjoy the gardens full of flowers and green foliage everywhere. No matter what time of year there is something amazing to photograph in Central Park. ($100/participant). Limit 8 participants per session. 2 hours

Brooklyn Bridge Photo Safari Join us for a 90 minute Photo Safari on the Brooklyn Bridge to ensure that you have the best pictures of this historic landmark. This photo tour will have you walking on the Brooklyn Bridge and taking pictures immediately. You will photograph not only the bridge, but also the skyline from the bridge. Iconic NYC Photo Safari ® (Part 1) - Iconic NYC Photo Safari (Part 1) - Join us on a fast paced Photo Safari to explore some of New York City's most iconic locations. Photograph *Rockefeller Center*, *Radio City Music Hall*, *Empire State Building*, and *Central Park*. We'll show you how to photograph these landmark locations while sharpening your photography skills. You'll learn how to work with lines and angles to bring these locations to life and you’ll even get an opportunity to photograph the skyline from Central Park. This is a very fast paced Photo Safari and will utilize the NYC Subway system; where you’ll have an opportunity to learn how to capture motion with the subway trains. Subway fare is included. This photography workshop is appropriate for all levels of photographic experience and is a great companion to Iconic NY P2 . World Trade Center Photo Safari
World Trade Center Photo Safari ® Discover the magnificence of Lower Manhattan's newest landmarks while honing your architectural photography skills. The new World Trade Center is nearly complete and this safari is designed to remember the past while celebrating the future. This photo tour will explore the new Freedom Tower, the 9/11 Memorial, the Oculus and much more. You will learn both interior and exterior architectural photography and how to best capture the buildings' grandeur as well as their simplicity.
Composition is everything and this session will push you to understand lines and balance while capturing these amazing buildings. You'll learn how to employ strong composition to engage the viewer and give them a sense of space as well as learn how to anticipate lighting conditions and scene management as it relates to architecture. Learn how to take advantage of reflections and the play of light on different surfaces. We will also explore the use of over exposure to help create an ethereal feel. (Limit 8 participants per safari; please no unregistered attendees)

Grand Central Photo Safari
During this 2.5 hour photography workshop, your will learn how to capture the beauty and grandeur that is Grand Central and improve your digital photography. We will also explore the use of slow shutter speeds to capture the hustle and bustle of the world's largest train terminal. In addition, you will have an opportunity to take an unobstructed photograph of Grand Central's main floor from 100 feet above the main floor. NYCPS has also acquired permission for the use of a tripod inside Grand Central station, making the slow shutter speed and special affect photographs possible. Due to the special nature of photography workshop we are only offering them on a limited basis. (Limit 8 participants per safari; please no unregistered attendees)
+++ You must bring a TRIPOD for this session. A wide angle lens (approximately 18 mm or shorter is highly recommended to take advantage of the unique angles available) +++

Night Photography in Times Square
This safari takes place mostly at Times Square; you will better understand issues related to taking pictures in low light conditions (ie. night photography). You will learn how flash and long exposure works and how to use a combination of both long exposure and flash to create an image. You will also learn how to take great pictures WITHOUT using a flash. Although a DSLR is preferred, you may use any digital camera with manual overrides; you MUST bring a tripod. This Photo Safari is best suited for those who have a good understanding of f/stop, shutter speed and ISO relationships. It is strongly recommended that you take Nuts & Bolts offered prior to NYC After Dark as it covers this material. (limit 6 participants per safari).

Central Park can be a marvelous photography destination, even after dark. This workshop will focus on composition skills at night as well as the issues related to taking pictures in low light conditions. Night photography is challenging, but we will help make sure the only raccoons in your photographs are of the four legged variety! On this photo tour you will get the opportunity to photograph some of the most filmed locations in Central Park and the skyline. Although a DSLR is preferred, you may use any digital camera with manual overrides; you MUST bring a tripod. Don’t let sunset limit your photography; it is another world after dark.This workshop is appropriate for all levels of photographic knowledge from beginners to advanced hobbyists. Chinatown Photo Safari -- There's nothing like the color and the vibrance that is Chinatown. Get lost in the world of Asia without needing a passport or packing your bags. On this street photography workshop you'll have the opportunity to photograph the colorful shop displays to gritty graffiti and tenement buildings reminiscent of the NYC immigrant experience. Brooklyn is now one of the places in NYC and part of what brings it to life is the street art - grafitti. On this safari we'll head to the Bushwick collective and the surrounding area to discover some of the best grafitti murals you'll find anywhere. You will photograph not only artwork but the surrounding neighborhood as well. Learn how to add drama to your images with strong composition. Three & a Half Bridges
Join the NYC Photo Safari “3 1/2 Bridges Photo Tour”. Your tour will start in Queens at the Queensboro Bridge, then head to Brooklyn to the Williamsburg Bridge. From there enjoy a 15 minute ride on the East River Ferry to Manhattan. Along the way you'll have the opportunity to photograph the Manhattan skyline, the Manhattan Bridge, and the Brooklyn Bridge from the water.
After landing in Manhattan you'll finish your safari by photographing the Brooklyn Bridge from the Manhattan side. During this photography workshop you will learn how to manage long exposures and color as it relates to night photography, with plenty of opportunities to do trailing lights.
You will also learn how to take great pictures WITHOUT using a flash. Although a DSLR is preferred, you may use any digital camera with manual overrides; you MUST bring a tripod. (limit 4 participants per safari).
