Prior to Guaranteed Humpback Whale Watching season (from July 12th to mid-October) in Hervey Bay, Whalesong gets you out on the water to be some of the first to find them. Whalesong is the only boat that offers a pre-season whale search cruise. Perfect for keeping the kids entertained in the school holidays (they usually enjoy the dolphins more than the whales anyhow, ha ha!). We get you out on the Bay and searching for the whales in the morning, so you're still back in time to be able to make use of your afternoon. As you will enjoy a fresh buffet lunch whilst cruising back to the marina, all you need to do is step off the boat and carry on with you day...no need to waste time looking for (and then eating) lunch after the cruise.

As Whale and Dolphin Watching Specialists, the sheltered waters between World Heritage listed Fraser Island and the mainland provides the best place in Australia to experience a Humpback Whale, or Dolphin close encounter like no other. Dolphins love to ride the wave made by our bulbous bow and the majestic humpback whales love to come interact with the guests on our boat....so close you could almost touch them!

Enjoy 5 glorious hours on the pristine waters between K'gari (Fraser Island) and Hervey Bay searching for the majestic Humpback Whale, in comfort on the new and modern environmentally friendly MV Whalesong. With enclosed and open air viewing on two levels, a water level viewing area and extra wide, walk around decks, the boat provides the ultimate in extra viewing and seating space. All guests have excellent vantage points for viewing a wide variety of wildlife or to just sit back and enjoy the ride.

As well as our resident bottlenose dolphins, you can also see marine animals as sting rays, eagle rays, turtles, fish, bird life and occasionally the endangered Dugong (sea cow). Whilst we’ll also be looking for the Humpback Whales, Whalesong doesn't offer guaranteed sightings until July 12th, 2025 onwards.

In addition to an incredible experience observing a variety of wildlife in their natural environment, you'll enjoy a real time commentary about them all (humpback whales, dolphins, dugongs, sharks, turtles and bird life) as well as some local history of K'gari (Fraser Island) and the traditional land owners, the Butchulla people. Moreover, with our multilingual crew, this live commentary can all be translated directly to you in French, German, Italian or Spanish. Enjoy the spectacular pristine water ways between K'gari and the mainland while looking out for dolphins, turtles, dugongs, fish and bird life on the 1 hour cruise out to our destination.



Once anchored at our destination, we take you ashore via our RIB (rigid inflatable boat) where you have 2 hours on the island to participate in whatever activity you like, or simply take the time to relax and enjoy the remote beach.


Embark the boat, rinse off in the fresh water shower and get ready for a delicious Aussie BBQ lunch. We cruise back slowly to the marina, whilst eating lunch and listening to an interesting and engaging commentary about the Island, history, marine life and other fun facts.

You're welcome to bring your own equipment as our snorkelling equipment is limited (this is not a designated snorkelling trip). Also, you're welcome to bring your own fishing equipment on board. Please call the office to let us know at least 48 hours beforehand.


Conditions
Access ashore is via our tender; guests need to be physically fit and have a degree of coordination to access the tender/RIB (rigid inflatable boat) and going ashore. No wheelchair access to the beach – but those in wheelchairs can stay on boat and partake in fishing.




“Shore Based Activities” (activities conducted off the main vessel M.V. Whalesong) require a level of fitness and coordination. Guests with physical or medical impediments may struggle with certain activities. These activities are at the guests own risk.

Going ashore at Fraser Island may be substituted for Pelican Bank; or both destinations may be provided on the one day. This depends on tides and weather conditions. We want guests to have the best experience and both areas can offer great beach and water activity options.

This NYE we are bringing back everything 80s, from fashion to music, to the good old 80s style finger foods and BBQ. So that means leg warmers, lycra, hair teased to the sky, neon colours, those "fancy" finger foods like devilled eggs and party pies and classic 80s BBQ!

Start the night boarding at 5pm, on our spacious boat with multiple decks, fully licensed bar, indoor and out door areas and 80s music and fashion. From there we head out of the marina, tunes going, drinks in hand and enjoy all the gorgeous views Hervey Bay and K'gari-Fraser have to offer.
Once we are underway, our wonderful staff will start bringing around finger foods, and manning the bar while the Skipper gives occasional commentary on points of interest and fun 80s facts.
You will get to spend the evening partying like it's the 80s again, with sunset views to die for, views of the aqua waters and the coastline of K'gari, the lights on the foreshore of Hervey Bay, finishing with a great view of the fireworks.
Once the fireworks finish, we will cruise enjoying the coastline, good vibes and rad tunes heading back to the marina, where you can get our courtesy bus to your next stop!
