The Smartphone is revolutionising photography and very quickly becoming the standard for picture making. Most people under-utilise its potential as a creative camera.
Smartphones are ideal for capturing and sharing our everyday experiences and we’ll show you how to use your phone’s sophisticated technology together with free apps to open up a world of creative photography.
Sydney is a changing city. Come with us and explore this new and exciting landscape as we meander through the old, the new and the unexpected. You will find inspiration as you photograph Old Sydney next to the New Sydney. We travel through back alleys, tunnels, hidden staircases and open spaces.
Aperture Club’s Smartphone Photography Workshop will give you the confidence to use your camera-phone for creative image making.
We’ll explore the methods and approaches professional photographers use to make informed, creative decisions using mood and emotion—and you’ll come away with new skills that will boost your creative confidence.
Workshop format:
Tutors: An experienced smartphone photographer and a photographer’s assistant (depending on group size)
Group size: minimum 4; maximum 10
Time: 4 hrs 8am - 12pm.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the workshop commences to ensure we start on time.
Meeting point: Cafe Metropole Ground Floor QVB approx half way in the middle.

What should I bring?
Your smartphone. With room to take lots photos.
Your Smartphone. Fully charged, (bring a battery pack or mobile charger if you have it)
Water and snacks (not essential)
Appropriate clothing—check the weather forecast! Comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and hat

Adobe Lightroom Classic is a powerful Photo Management tool that makes digital photography easier and more creative. Learning everything this software has to offer can be quite overwhelming for many people as you first start using it.
This workshop is designed to assist photographers in becoming efficient with the fundamental features of Adobe Lightroom Classic and a basic photography editing workflow. This workshop is suitable for beginners starting their journey with Lightroom Classic and looking for a quick way to understand the basics of how to get the best out of your images.
PROGRAM OUTLINE
This Full Day workshop introduces you to the fundamentals of Lightroom Classic and is designed to get you up and running quickly with a basic photo editing workflow that includes importing your images, basic photographic edits and exporting your images for social media and printing.
The photo editing workflow we introduce in this workshop will be useful for a majority of your images.
Lightroom Classic Fundamentals:
· Basic File & Folder Structure
· The Concept of Non-Destructive Editing
· Importing Your Images Into Lightroom
· Selecting and Sorting Your Images
· Basic Photographic Edits
· Exporting Your Images for Social Media and Printing.

A digital imaging workflow is a series of steps organised to assist photographers simplify the process of working with digital images, from the moment they press the shutter button to the final step where they produce some form of output with their images, such as a print, slideshow, book or publishing to the web.
A well-defined workflow simplifies the task of managing and editing your images, helping you to stay organised and efficient. The is no defined, one size fits all, digital imaging workflow, each photographer will define their own process that works well for them. Our Lightroom Workshop series will not only assist you in developing a comprehensive understanding on how to manage and edit your images, but also assist you in developing your own digital imaging workflow.
LIGHTROOM WORKSHOP 1 - LIGHTROOM FUNDAMENTALS

Time: 9.00 am to 3.30 pm Please arrive 15 minutes before the workshop commences to ensure we start on time.
Location: Aperture Studios is located inside Boomalli Art Gallery 55-57 Flood Street, Leichardt
ABOUT
All workshops include a mixture of theory, demonstrations and hands-on activities. You will be provided with comprehensive course notes, along with a broad assortment of practice photos and Lightroom presets, so you can continue to revisit the exercises after you complete the workshops. Bring your laptop and a functional copy of Adobe Lightroom and be ready to bring your images to life!
Students must have a fundamental understanding of the laptop they are bringing along. Whilst the instructor is happy to assist with post processing related questions, they will not be able to troubleshoot individual laptop issues.
