About Lagoon Village Cycling Tour
The Lagoon and Village Cycling Tour go at your own pace – we get off the beaten track with an easy 12 km (7.5 miles) ride from approx. 2.5 to 3 hours (or more) depending on how comfortable you are and how fast you wish to cycle. The tour stays primarily on dirt and gravel tracks and shows you local industries, Lagoon and mangroves, fauna, flora and also meets the local people. You can also witness the process of catching crabs. If you wish to stay away from the touristy areas and experience the lifestyle of the locals while cycling, this is a perfect tour for you!

Overview
We start our tour at 8.30 am for Morning Departure or 2.30 pm for the Afternoon Departure. At the tour operator’s house, you will be provided with welcome and tour information, bottled water, helmets and city bike or mountain bike for your size.
After a short briefing, you start the tour with our experienced English-speaking local guide who takes you first through small dirt roads through a small local village to lagoon and mangroves. Along the way, you can always ask your local guide about the plants, animals, culture or anything about this country.
You will also experience the local biodiversity in Sri Lanka- mangrove forest, tropical palms, ferns and lots of coconut trees. Throughout this journey, you will pass through lush green paddy fields, a big part of people's lives here in south Sri Lanka. After cycling around the lagoon. A short journey on the main road and a stop for a refreshing king coconut winds down your tour before you head back to the final destination.

Galle Countryside Cycling Tour

Overview
Galle is considered the capital of Sri Lanka’s south with historical and cultural importance. This cycle tour of Galle and its outskirts will provide you with a view to this magnificent city and its happenings.
You will meet our guide in Miliduwa, in the outskirts of Galle at approximately 0800 hrs. After introductions and an initial brief of the tour, you set off from Miliduwa.
The first stop is at the tea factory at Kahanda Kanda. This factory gives you a glance at how low-country tea is processed from raw leaves all the way to its final form with a peak at how a co-ordinated effort gets the tea from the lush green plantations to a teacup.
The serene Koggala Lake, being the next stop, is a place to rejuvenate and take on a boat ride around the lake. The Koggala Lake is dotted with hundreds of tiny islands, some of them large enough to be inhabited. Amongst many key features, the marshland that surrounds the lake is the main attraction with several dozen species of rare and colourful birds, especially during the migrant season.
You continue to cycle amid paddy fields, coconut, rubber and cinnamon plantations etc. Upon reaching Unawatuna, you will see its famous pristine beaches and coral reefs. Unawatuna borders Rumassala mountain, with a unique Buddhist temple and a small attractive strip of beach known as Jungle Beach.
Galle city, the most significant attraction in this tour features the 17th century Galle Dutch Fort. It features several quaint boutiques for souvenir hunters, high-quality restaurants, even a strip of beach and even the first breadfruit tree planted in Sri Lanka. You will get a chance to interact with the locals and try some mouth-watering street food as well.
From the Galle Fort, you will cycle back to Miliduwa village to end an undoubtedly rewarding tour.

About Galle Fort and City Cycling Tour
Galle is the administrative capital of Southern Province and the fourth largest city in Sri Lanka. Before the arrival of the Portuguese in the 16th century, Galle was the main port on the island and has reached the height of its development in the 18th century during the Dutch colonial period. Galle is the best example of a fortified city built by the Portuguese in South and Southeast Asia that shows the interaction between Portuguese architectural styles and native traditions. The Galle Fort is a world heritage site and is the largest remaining fortress in Asia built by European occupiers.

Overview
At our operator house at 2:30 pm, you will be provided with welcome and tour information, bottled water, helmets and a city bike or mountain bike for your size. After a short briefing, you start the tour with our experienced English-speaking local guide. We ride our office to Galle city (approx. 5km on Galle Matara main road on the south coast). Along the route, we can see many activities of the local people and fishermen working and much more.
After reaching Galle city, a visit to Galle Fort can be conveniently started at the old entrance after cycling along the seaside towards the old warehouse. Galle Fort covers an area of 52 hectares (130 acres) and the important heritage monuments in the fort includes the Dutch Reformed Church with its historic belfry dated 1707 and cast in 1709 that rings every hour, the old Dutch government house, the residence of the Commander, Great Warehouse near the Old Gate built around 1669 to store spices and ship equipment that is now National Maritime Museum, the Old Dutch Hospital, the Meera Mosque built-in 1904, the Buddhist temple built at the site of Portuguese Roman Catholic church, the All Saints Anglican Church built in 1871, the 1882 Clock Tower and the 1939 Galle Lighthouse and many more to see.
It usually takes a full day to explore Galle Fort properly, but by cycling, we should be able to carry out in a leisurely and relaxing manner. After cycling inside the Galle Fort, we come out from the New Entrance that was constructed in 1873 piercing rampart between Son and Moon Bastions which is being used even today. We will also visit the Murugan Hindu Temple that was established in 1790 and fruit market and vegetable market established in 1880. This ride will start and finish at our office.
