Yalumba Cooperage Tour
Enjoy a rare insight into the craft of wine barrel making, a tradition that has been happening at Yalumba for over 100 years.
Our Cooperage experience will expertly guide you on a unique visit. We are the only producing cooperage attached to a working winery in the Southern Hemisphere. During this tour, you will receive an in-depth explanation of how a barrel is crafted from scratch. You and your guests will have the the opportunity to engage with our master cooper, whilst he performs one component of the barrel making process. A chance to talk directly with the master cooper and ask any questions on this centuries old skill is also included.
You will then be guided to The Yalumba Wine Room where you will enjoy a tasting flight of wines aged in Yalumba coopered barrels, whilst you enjoy these wines you will also receive an introduction into Yalumbas rich history and our family owners the Hill-Smiths.
Please note: The experiences is only available from Monday - Friday (excluding public holidays) - We ask guests to arrive 10 minutes prior to the experience commencing.

Yalumba Unlocked
The Yalumba Unlocked experience begins in our architecturally designed Wine Room with a short history of Yalumba’s Hill-Smith family. Guests will then enjoy a private tour of the grounds, historic buildings, the unique Yalumba Cooperage and iconic Signature Cellar along with the unique Tank 11 & 12. The tour culminates in tasting of Yalumba’s finest wines in the stunning Wine Room, hosted by a Yalumba Ambassador whilst sharing a Cooper’s Platter of local artisanal produce.

Yalumba Estate Picnic for 2
We are extremely proud of our Yalumba grounds and look forward to sharing them with you through our Yalumba Estate Picnic. Join a Wine Ambassador for a private Best of Barossa tasting and learn about our Distinguished Sites wines. After your tasting choose one of these wines to have as your wine with lunch (valued up to $50). You will then receive a precinct map and guidance from staff as to where you will be able to enjoy your local produce picnic. There are a number of locations to choose from, grab a picnic rug and even play some lawn games if you choose*.
Picnic Pack includes: Comprehensive private Wine Tasting, Best of Barossa (Distinguished Sites) Yalumba Precinct Map Local produce picnic pack – Includes: two local cheeses and crackers, Angaston Smokehouse cured meats, Trevallie Orchard fresh & dried fruit and Breaking Bread Sourdough. Your journey through Yalumba's iconic and premium wines begins in our Wine Room, where you will be greeted by one of our friendly Wine Ambassadors. They will host you throughout the day and share our stories and exceptional award winning wines.
Begin the progressive tasting experience with a glass of Yalumba The Virgilius, our flagship white wine and Australia’s benchmark Viognier.
With your glass of The Virgilius in hand, you will walk to our Family Tasting Room, learn about the family passions and taste our Rare & Fine Grenache, The Tri-Centenary.
Moving on through the stunning grounds, past the iconic Clocktower to the private Signature Cellar, partake in a comparative tasting of The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz, both current release and our future vintage straight from the barrel. The Signature encompasses everything our family stands for and the perfect representation of our history and ethos.
Having visited our labyrinth of former fermentation tanks, we will give you rare and privileged access into the family's personal wine museum, an impressive collection including some of Australia’s first wines and other significant wine labels from the Old World.
Make your way through the winery to the Cooperage, Australia’s only onsite winery Cooperage. Here you will learn how our barrels are made, whilst tasting our flagship Shiraz, The Octavius, named after the 100 litre octave barrels iconic to Yalumba.
Walking alongside the Horseshoe Vineyard, you will discover The Caley Hut. Steeped in history, the hut has a picturesque outlook of the very vineyard where some of the grapes for The Caley are sourced. Be guided through three vintages of The Caley Cabernet & Shiraz whilst enjoying an abundant local produce platter (or in cooler months a warm dish, by the roaring fire).

Yalumba Nursery & Grenache Discovery Tour + Platter Lunch
Guests are collected from their Barossa accommodation to begin a day of wine exploration.
This unique wine experience includes a visit to our Yalumba Nursery, established in 1975 it's home to Australia's most reliable source of grafted grapevines. The accredited state-of-the-art wine production facility clones, grows and supplies grape growers around Australia.
Located in the Barossa sub-region of Vine Vale, Grenache Vineyards surround the nursery, some of which are the oldest in the world. These old gnarly structures are still producing magnificent wines. Enjoy a tasting amongst the vines for a truly unique experience.
This wine experience offers a wonderful understanding of the process from vine bud to glass. A fascinating introduction to Barossa Grenache and Yalumba’s collection of award-winning and unique expressions of this variety.
The experience concludes back at the Yalumba Wine Room with a generous Cooper’s Lunch Platter of locally produced artisanal treats paired with your favourite glass of Grenache.

The Signature Tour
Yalumba The Signature tour is a journey into the history, symbolism and provenance of one of Australia’s most iconic wines.
This in-depth experience begins at the historic Yalumba Wine Room where your host will provide an introduction to the story of Yalumba The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz and an explanation of the sentiment it holds for the people of Yalumba.
Guests are escorted to the Signature Vineyard at Light Pass, home to the Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown for The Signature. Enjoy spectacular views over the Barossa Valley while experiencing a tasting amongst the vines.
Upon returning to Yalumba, your experience continues with a private tasting of a yet to be released, current release & a Museum Release of The Signature before a tour through the Hill-Smith family’s private museum cellar.
Round off a captivating morning with lunch prepared by a local chef, paired with Yalumba’s Rare and Fine collection in one of Yalumba’s iconic dining spaces.
