A v ery scenic coastal ride of 26kms, finishing at our 3 favourite Hawke's Bay wineries. Great for those wanting to cycle for 2-4 hours but also enjoy a winery or two!
Departing the port village of Ahuriri you cycle around the port to the Napier CBD, a world renowned Art Deco treasure. Spend some time enjoying the beautiful Art Deco buildings before cycling along the Marine Parade pathway with spectacular views across the Pacific to Cape Kidnappers.
You'll come to Ātea a Rangi - Celestial Star Compass at Waitangi Regional Park, a great place to stop and look at this fantastic installation. Learn about how māori navigators used the stars to sail their wakas (canoes) to New Zealand. Cycle on through the wetlands, home to numerous black swans to the village of Clive, a great place for refreshments. Leaving Clive, you arrive at Black Bridge and the mouth of the Tuki Tuki river. Cycle through these two quaint coastal communities to get to Elephant Hill, Clearview Estate and Te Awanga to indulge in wine tastings at these three fine Cape Coast wineries.
Allow 4-6hrs for this tour - we suggest meeting at our base in Ahuriri between 10am and 11am. At the end of the day you will be collected (around 4pm, time to be confirmed) and transferred back to Ahuriri or your accommodation.

Kick-start your morning with a delectable breakfast, including a refreshing mocktail, at The Bach Café. After fuelling up, Tākaro Trails will have your e-bikes ready and waiting for you to embark on a scenic e-bike ride to explore the many Hawke’s Bay Trails and indulge in a visit to one of our top wineries for a tasting.
After an exhilarating ride, treat yourself to a rejuvenating swim at Ocean Spa to refresh and sooth your muscles. No need to concern yourself about dropping your e-bike back, the team at Tākaro Trails will collect them from Ocean Spa. All you need to do is sit back and relax.

Bike Ride options: explore Hawke’s Bay by bike – a fun, easy cycle ride to visit to one of the top winery establishments in Hawke’s Bay .

An easy 20km/12 miles (approx. 2 hours cycling) self guided cycling tour along a dedicated cycle pathway beside the Pacific Coast and estuary trails through a wildlife sanctuary to visit an iconic Hawke’s Bay winery. We will have your bike ready to go, give you a briefing and a map so you can navigate your way along the trails to your place of choice.
Choose your ride from the following options: 22km/13 miles (approx. 1.5-2 hours cycling) Bayview Loop to take in Crab Farm Winery (open Thursdays-Sunday) 40km/20 miles (approx. 2.5-3 hours cycling) ride coastal trail to Taradale to visit Mission Estate (open 7 days) and Church Road winery (open 7 days) then return on the Ahuriri Estuary trails. OPTION to book a 2pm pick up from Taradale $20pp if you are finished with cycling at this point...choose this extra on booking.
The cycling is completely flat and gentle, so suitable for all riders with a moderate level of fitness. We will provide you with maps plus Takaro Trails support is available throughout the day should it be required.
Child is 14 years and under and if you are wanting to book e-bikes, must be over 135cm. If you want wine tastings or lunch at the wineries we RECOMMEND PRE-BOOKING, just select the links below and go from there.
