Ahuriri - Napier Loop Self-Guided PathwayBIKE_TRADE

This is a very diverse, flexible tour which can be adapted to suit how far you want to ride and what you want to see. A great family-friendly option with lots of features including wineries, estuary trails, Art Deco buildings and coastal pathways.
Departing the port village of Ahuriri you cycle around the port to Napier city, a world renowned Art Deco treasure. Spend some time enjoying the art deco city before following the coastal pathway with spectacular views across the Pacific to Cape Kidnappers. Turn inland and follow the Tutaekuri River trail, overlooking orchards to the suburb of Taradale. Visit two of the region’s finest wineries, Church Rd and the Mission Estate before cycling on to the Ahuriri Estuary trail with its many native birds.
Can include a detour to Bayview where you will find the relaxed Crab Farm winery- a real jewel. Finish off in Ahuriri with a visit to Urban Winery or one of many restaurants and bars in this relaxed coastal village.
Do all the route or just a part – cycle 15km or 50km – 4hr or 6hr options. This ride is tailored to you.

Ahuriri to Black Barn via Coast Self-Guided Tour- PATHWAYBIKE_TRADE

A v ery scenic coastal ride of 26kms, finishing at our 3 favourite Hawke's Bay wineries. Great for those wanting to cycle for 2-4 hours but also enjoy a winery or two!
Departing the port village of Ahuriri you cycle around the port to the Napier CBD, a world renowned Art Deco treasure. Spend some time enjoying the beautiful Art Deco buildings before cycling along the Marine Parade pathway with spectacular views across the Pacific to Cape Kidnappers.
You'll come to Ātea a Rangi - Celestial Star Compass at Waitangi Regional Park, a great place to stop and look at this fantastic installation. Learn about how māori navigators used the stars to sail their wakas (canoes) to New Zealand. Cycle on through the wetlands, home to numerous black swans to the village of Clive, a great place for refreshments. Leaving Clive, you arrive at Black Bridge and the mouth of the Tuki Tuki river. Cycle through these two quaint coastal communities to get to Elephant Hill, Clearview Estate and Te Awanga to indulge in wine tastings at these three fine Cape Coast wineries.
Allow 4-6hrs for this tour - we suggest meeting at our base in Ahuriri between 10am and 11am. At the end of the day you will be collected (around 4pm, time to be confirmed) and transferred back to Ahuriri or your accommodation.

TOUR DETAILS for the Cape Winery Tour
The shuttle van leaves our base in Ahuriri at 10am each morning to take you & your bikes to the starting point at Clifton, Cape Kidnappers, please be at the Tākaro Trails base at 9.50am so you don't miss it.
We will then transfer you to the start of your adventure at Clifton near Cape Kidnappers . Head into Hygge Café who have an amazing array of food and a great spot to have a coffee or even breakfast.
Cycling along the picturesque coastal trail from Clifton in 4km you’ll be ready for your first taste of some fine wine at the friendly Clearview Estate and upmarket Elephant Hill .
You will then enjoy a 16km cycle through the coastal communities of Haumoana and Te Awanga linking to the limestone cycle trail following the Tuki Tuki River. Stop at Askerne along the way - a friendly, family winery which offers the best value wine tasting and gourmet picnics! The views are stunning as you cycle the raised stop-bank trail and look out over orchards, vineyards and farmlands.
Coming off the river trail you will quickly get to Te Mata Estate and Black Barn (pick up point). OPTION take a detour to Craggy Range along a new bike path - approx 4km there and back.
If lunch is on your ‘wish-list’ we highly recommend booking in advance (SATURDAY and Public Holidays BOOKINGS are ESSENTIAL - you won't get lunch otherwise). If you are a big group then we recommend booking wine tastings as well (see winery links below).

Cape Winery Tour – River and Coastal trails to Cape Kidnappers. Tour Description: Most POPULAR TOUR – An easy 16-24km ride with a focus on visiting wineries. From the award-winning wineries of Craggy Range, Black Barn and Te Mata Estate near Havelock North you join the trail to cycle through orchard country following the Tuki Tuki River, to the Pacific coast. On reaching the coastal settlement of Te Awanga your cycling efforts are rewarded with visits to more acclaimed wineries including Elephant Hill, Te Awanga Estate and Clearview Estate. Up to 7 wineries on route, lunches offered at Elephant Hill, Clearview.

• Tours operate 7 days a week except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and in most weather conditions. If the weather is not co-operating then we will offer a guided tour in a private vehicle.
