CRUISE - Cycle to Wineries (Half Day, Self-Guided, EBIKE)
SELF-GUIDED CYCLE to WINERIES excellent for CRUISE SHIP visitors to Napier – 3-4 hours (depending on the number of stops you take in).
Explore Hawke’s Bay by E-Bike – a fun, easy cycle ride to visit a top winery in Hawke’s Bay. NOTE: this option is to ride a cruisy E-Bike (available for all sizes - 140cm-195cm). This is a SELF-GUIDED ride - we will give you a map. Allow at least 3.5 hours for these routes with 1-2 winery stops. NOTE: not all wineries are open everyday, please note winery opening days below

Your port shuttle bus will drop you off at the Napier isite (2km from the port). Keep an eye out on this ride - look to your left for some GREEN FLAGS which are outside our base. We will have your bike ready to go, give you a briefing and a map so you can navigate your way along the trails to your winery of choice. Choose the route you ride from 40km/25miles to 45km/28miles (NOTE all riding is out and back to our base in Napier).
We will send you on an easy self guided cycling route (from 18km/11 miles approx. 2 hours cycling but up to 40km/24 miles if you want!) along a dedicated cycle pathway beside the Pacific Ocean to trails following lazy rivers beside orchards and estuary trails. Visit a world renowned winery along the way all within 10-20km away.

(NOTE remember you need to come back too - all riding is out and back to our base in Napier).

- The cycling is completely flat and gentle, so suitable for all riders with a moderate level of fitness.
- We will provide you with maps plus Takaro Trails support is available throughout the day should it be required.
- Child is 14 years and under and if you are wanting to book e-bikes, must be over 135cm.

TOUR DETAILS for the Cape Winery Tour
The shuttle van leaves our base in Ahuriri at 10am each morning to take you & your bikes to the starting point at Clifton, Cape Kidnappers, please be at the Tākaro Trails base at 9.50am so you don't miss it.
We will then transfer you to the start of your adventure at Clifton near Cape Kidnappers . Head into Hygge Café who have an amazing array of food and a great spot to have a coffee or even breakfast.
Cycling along the picturesque coastal trail from Clifton in 4km you’ll be ready for your first taste of some fine wine at the friendly Clearview Estate and upmarket Elephant Hill .
You will then enjoy a 16km cycle through the coastal communities of Haumoana and Te Awanga linking to the limestone cycle trail following the Tuki Tuki River. Stop at Askerne along the way - a friendly, family winery which offers the best value wine tasting and gourmet picnics! The views are stunning as you cycle the raised stop-bank trail and look out over orchards, vineyards and farmlands.
Coming off the river trail you will quickly get to Te Mata Estate and Black Barn (pick up point). OPTION take a detour to Craggy Range along a new bike path - approx 4km there and back.
If lunch is on your ‘wish-list’ we highly recommend booking in advance (SATURDAY and Public Holidays BOOKINGS are ESSENTIAL - you won't get lunch otherwise). If you are a big group then we recommend booking wine tastings as well (see winery links below).
