All abilities - Chalet Skade (Under 40s)
We try and keep Chalet Skade to guests in their twenties and thirties. If you are 40 or over please do book your spot in our other chalet, Chalet Hubert which has no age restrictions.
Our ski and snowboard trips are perfect, whether you are a beginner or a pro, on your own, with your other half or with a group of friends, come and join us on one of our small group trips. We get a good mix of guys / gals and skiers / snowboarders at all abilities.
Chalet Skade is the quintessential chalet in the mountains - just a seven minute walk (in trainers, we have lockers) to the main Super Morzine lift and has all the toys; real log fire, huge balcony, pool table, sauna and hot tub in the garden! It isn't a 4* luxury palace - but it's super homely and you'll love it.
We have been running skiing / snowboarding trips to Morzine in the French Alps since 2009. We absolutely love it here due to it’s varied terrain which is brilliant, no matter what level you are. Although - do check out our beginner / improver trips or even our more advanced off piste weeks!
This year we also have trips that go to several different local resorts – On Piste Safari and we also have a week lined up heading to St Anton in Austria! But our heart is, and always will be, in The Zine!
Morzine is a ‘year round’ town located in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, one of the largest ski areas in the world, which offers over 650km of slopes.
Our trips are a bit different to the normal chalet holiday. Most of our guests are solo travellers, although we do get couples and small groups of friends – it’s a real social, laid-back experience. It’s a bit like going on holiday with your mates and even the chalet crew are ‘part of the gang’
We don’t offer ‘la-di-da’ food but we do offer home cooked grub, a home-from-home atmosphere and a fantastic opportunity to make new like-minded ski / snowboard buddies.
Included in the price:
- Shared accommodation (Don’t worry if you’re travelling solo, we’ll match you with someone the same sex).
- Welcome drinks.
- 5 evening meals on evenings of the chalet’s choice (normally we eat out as ‘a chalet’ on the first / last evenings at your own expense, but it’s all pretty flexi).
- Unlimited beer, wine, soft drinks, tea, coffee & hot chocolate (alcohol with meals).
- Breakfast each morning of porridge, cereal, baguettes, jams, toast, fruit, eggs - we do a 'full fry up' on one morning too.
- “Raid the fridge” policy, with snacks, biscuits, cakes, waffles etc available at all times.
- You are welcome to make sandwiches and take packed lunches out of the chalet supplies.
- HOFNAR hosts do everything from cooking breakfast and hanging out on the slopes with you to preparing dinner and leading the all important aprés!
- Benefit of staying with a small group of like minded people, in a really laid back chalet where you can raid the fridge, wander around in your pyjamas, really make yourself at home and there are no kids!
Extras to pay for:
- Travel to France – Most people fly to / from Geneva Airport (look on kayak.co.uk or skyscanner.net for some of the best prices). Any arrival or departure times are fine. Although your room might not be ready – you could definitely arrive early / leave late and bag extra days on the snow!
- Obvs, the plane isn’t the only way – here’s a few more ideas
- Transfers from / to Geneva. We work with a company called Ski Lifts and you cn expect about £60 each way… you can go cheaper on scheduled services, but these often won’t wait and might drop you ‘a bit of a walk’ from the chalet.
- A lift pass – we can have this waiting for you in the chalet – read about the options here
- Equipment Hire – we work with Hubert Sports in Morzine. They give HOFNAR guests 20% off, but expect about £130 for a week’s hire of skis or snowboard and boots
- Lessons – we work with all the schools in Morzine – more info here
- Clothing – you need your own ski / snowboard gear – beg, borrow, steal from friends otherwise use ebay, TK Maxx. Check out our packing list or if you need more help just give us a shout!
- Insurance – Comprehensive travel insurance including winter sports cover is a condition of booking. All guests must have adequate cover in place before travelling.
- Two nights we normally go out for dinner as a group and at your own expense. Typically we’ll go for a fairly informal pizza on the first night and something more “Français” on the last.

Skiing / Snowboarding, Introduction to Off Piste
Our ski and snowboard trips are perfect, whether you are a beginner or a pro, on your own, with your other half or with a group of friends, come and join us on one of our small group trips. We get a good mix of guys / gals and skiers / snowboarders and on this week everybody will be of a good level, so that we can head out (with guides) and really explore the back country of the Portes du Soleil ski area.
The price is more expensive because it includes guides for 3 half days and 2 full days, click here for details.
In this chalet there is no age restriction, apart from no kids!
You will be staying in Chalet Armaillis, bang in the centre of Morzine and just minutes from both of the main lifts.
This will be our fifteenth season in Morzine in the French Alps and we love the area for its vast range of slopes for all abilities, beautiful scenery and lively aprés-ski. Take a look at our chalets here.
If you just like to get out and do stuff, you’ll fit right in. It’s a great way to have an awesome holiday, meet like-minded people and come home with some new friends.
Come on your own – lots of our guests do, so you won’t be the only one! Our friendly groups are small – never more than 14, which is intimate enough to get to know people, but big enough to feel like a good gang!
Sometimes we ride out together, sometimes we’ll just meet for lunch and a glass of vin chaud in the sunshine. Everything is laid back and you can do as much or as little as you like.
Our live-in hosts will take care of everything, from recommending the best pistes to showing you a good time at our favourite bars.
We know from experience that it doesn’t take long before everyone is getting on as if they’ve known each other forever!
