The Canterbury Plains, an area of braided rivers and
pastoral farmland nestled between the Southern Alps and the Pacific Ocean. The
plains are a remarkable sight from the air, a patchwork of agricultural

The Waimakariri River, one of the largest braided rivers in Canterbury.
