Yukon Gold Experience feat. Emerald Lake & Carcross

Gold! This one word roared across North America in 1896, as hundreds of thousands rushed to the Klondike with dreams of striking it rich. Now over a century later, that passion lives on, as visitors from across the globe continue to trace the footsteps of the world’s greatest Gold Rush. Pan for gold, explore Miles Canyon, and learn the true history of the Klondike Gold Rush. With lakes, beaches, the World’s Smallest Desert and the small First Nations community of Carcross along the way, the Yukon Gold Experience shows the true breadth the North has to offer.
We begin our journey at 10:00 am from the hotel, after our first stop at Miles Canyon we head on down to Emerald Lake, so named for its breathtaking, shimmering green waters. From there we’ll take a trip to see Carcross Desert, the smallest desert on earth before visiting the Indigenous community of Carcross itself. Explore the local First Nations art and history, relax in their local cafes, or stroll down the sandy shores of Bennett Lake. It was here that many stories of the Gold Rush began, as the prospective prospector started their journey paddling to the Klondike.
Our final stop before we return to Whitehorse brings us to the ultimate goal of every gold-rusher: finding gold . After a quick lesson on gold-panning, you’ll be digging up deposits in no time. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to pet husky puppies, take photos with Gold Rush-style displays, and visit the Wildlife museum, filled with life-sized displays of Yukon wildlife, including a Woolly Mammoth. We then conclude the day by returning you back to your Whitehorse hotel at about 3:30 pm.
* Some of these attractions are only available seasonally and might not be entirely accessible within specified times.

Kluane National Park – An UNESCO World Heritage Site

Our exclusive day trip to Haines Junction and Kluane National Park is a terrific opportunity to see one of Canada’s most beautiful National Parks first-hand. It’s also a thrilling insight into the region’s history before Westerners discovered it and before it attracted significant interest during the time of the Klondike Gold Rush.
On our trip on the Alaska Highway towards Kluane National Park , we will catch our first, awe-inspiring view on the magnificent mountains of the park. We might also encounter bears, deer and other wild animals at the edge of the road or the mostly grassy shoulder of the way, so pay proper attention and keep your camera ready for anything that might cross our path. With countless photographic opportunities to come, make sure you have your camera with enough memory space with you for the trip.
In Haines Junction, we will pay a visit to one of the prettiest visitor centres of Canada and will hear a lot about the First Nations, the National Park and the largest non-polar ice field in the world situated within the park.
After that, we will take a small stroll along Kathleen Lake, which is already within the borders of Kluane National Park , enjoying its serenity and view stunning view to the mountains.
We will pick you up from your hotel at 8:30 a.m. and travel towards Haines Junction and Kluane National Park on Alaska Highway. We will make a stop at the bakery in Haines Junction to get some lunch, before continuing on our road trip. Please note, Kluane National Park itself is only accessible be canoe, hiking or by plane, so we this tour does not venture into the park, beyond Kathleen Lake
