Sailing in the bay
We depart Whitianga Wharf at 10:00 and head out into Mercury Bay. Once our plan has been made, we’ll raise the sails and head off to some of the most spectacular coastal scenery that New Zealand has to offer. You are welcome to help sail the old schooner to some of these breathtaking places-Cathedral Cove, Devil’s Point, Pink Beach and the Hole in the Wall, just to name a few.
Around Midday we head into a bay and drop anchor, so we can have lunch a swim and snorkel. When we set sail again we’ll keep a sharp lookout for dolphins, whales and a huge variety of other sea life.
We return about 16:00

Mercury Islands Cruise
This is a big day out to one of the prettiest places on earth. We depart at 8:00 am for the 15-nautical mile journey. It is way off other tourist routes and a real treat to experience. This cruise allows us to trim the sails and feel the old schooner healing with the wind. Weather permitting, we head for Peach Grove, which we often have to ourselves. Once there, you have so many options. You can swim or paddleboard ashore in the crystal clear water followed by a walk on the flawless beach. You can then take a short jaunt through the bush to a stunning waterfall and enjoy a dip in the freshwater pool, whatever you choose to do. Native parrots, kaka and tui are abundant so you are sure to catch sight of these beautiful creatures along with seabirds and dolphins.

Private Charter 6hours-Sailing in the bay
Windborne is available for private functions such as weddings, birthdays, staff parties, reunions, sunset cruises and the like. Theme parties are also quite popular so let us know if you’d like to throw a pirate or south sea spirit celebration.
We can take a maximum of 24 guests for these one day event. These private day charters can be self-catered or can be organized depending on your budget and on the cuisine desired. Please feel free to discuss your ideas with us.
The private charter includes the whole boat with a qualified skipper and crew:
Use of safety equipment. Snorkeling and SUP gear. Freshly brewed coffee or tea and cookies for morning tea.
