Let's Dive!! Join Captain Hook’s Dive Key West and our experienced dive team for a morning or afternoon dive in the in Key West of the Florida Keys. The range of diving available to our divers is limitless, with a number of great sites with variable depths to match your level of diving experience.
These coral reefs are a thrill to snorkelers and scuba divers alike! These extensive reefs are abundant in coral and marine life, with lost of available light and maximum dive time. All coral reef dives are two locations. Be sure to bring your camera!
We dive at two locations on each trip for one hour each . The dive locations are selected the day of the dive based on weather, wind conditions and visibility.
At Capt. Hooks Dive Key West, we provide a complimentary divemaster with each dive trip. They know the reef and the local marine residents, and they can point out the highlights on our dives. Having a divemaster in the water has helped many of our divers that have not been diving in a while to reach a higher comfort level by knowing there is someone nearby who can help. The divemaster is only there if you want to use them as a guide, it is your choice, and many of our divers explore on their own with their dive buddy.

If your group has a mix of snorkelers and divers, we can accommodate everyone on one boat. We have two dive boats that are especially designed for diving. Having two boats allows us to meet most customer requests and to keep families together, even if some are diving and some are snorkeling.

CAYMAN SALVAGE MASTER - 90 to 95 ft. depth. This wreck is a 187 foot long, steel hulled buoy tender that was sunk in 1985. The CAYMAN is your best opportunity to interact with goliath groupers (large jewfish) and moray eels. The staff supervised dive is generally on the deck, where all the marine life action takes place. Your second dive is to one of our less traveled shallow reef sites.

Let's Dive!! Join Captain Hook’s Dive Key West and our experienced dive team for a morning or afternoon dive in the in Key West of the Florida Keys. The range of diving available to our divers is limitless, with a number of great sites with variable depths to match your level of diving experience.
VANDENBERG WRECK – 95 TO 100 ft. depth to the deck. This world class wreck is over 520 ft. in length. It is the largest most accessible artificial reef in the world and sits in 145 ft. of water. This World War II troop transport also served as a missile tracker during the cold war. Her signature giant radar dishes were used to track the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo capsules. Our guided dive on the deck will lead you in exploration of its unique super structure, radar dishes, bridge, com-rooms and crown nest on an air profile. May 2012 marks her 3rd yr. on the bottom and she continues to attract an ever increasing variety of marine life.

Must have completed a deep dive (60 feet or more) with the past 12 months. This is a requirement specific to diving the Vandenberg. If you do not have a deep dive within the past 12 months and you are an Advanced Open Water Diver, we recommend diving the Cayman Salvager Wreck with our dive guide after which you will be eligible to dive the Vandenberg.

Discover Scuba Experience - Dive In a Day! @ Dive Key West

Discover SCUBA Experience Maximize your Florida Keys vacation by enrolling in a Discover SCUBA Experience with Captain Hook's, it is great fun and an experience you will never forget! Time for your first SCUBA experience! Capt. Hook's provides all equipment, tanks and air for this experience.
You will get comfortable with the equipment and breathing underwater, relaxation and underwater buoyancy skills. You will be amazed at how easy and relaxing it is... breathing under the water and feeling weightless. Although this is not a scuba certification course, you'll learn all the steps it takes to become a certified diver. Schedule


The day starts at our dive shop for paperwork and gear. Then we leave the shop for the pool for onsite classroom, and a pool session. After their pool session when you are comfortable underwater, we take a break to grab some lunch and meet again for the afternoon’s two reef dives with your instructor. You will experience diving on a shallow reef with your instructor by your side, guiding you through the water and exploring the ocean together. Then, back to the dock around 4:30 to 5:00PM. Length of course: 3 or 4 days
Who should take this course?
For the Open Water Diver course (or Junior Open Water Diver course) you must be 10 years old or older. You need average swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required. A medical history form must be completed by all divers prior to participating in this activity. You are responsible to make sure you are medically qualified to participate in this sport.
What will you learn?
This course is the world's most popular scuba certification course. Millions of people have started diving as certified Open Water Divers. Learning to scuba dive requires both knowledge development (facts, principles, concepts) and dive skills (techniques, methods). There are two options to taking this course.
Two Options: E-learning & On-site Classroom
E-Learning
E-learning is great, you begin your dive education at your convenience, anywhere you have Internet connection. If you have a busy schedule or just prefer the convenience of online study, eLearning is a great choice. Your course work will be taught online with proven professional materials and interactive instruction. The online portion will take approximately 12-15 hours to complete. Once you complete it, it is off to the beautiful Florida Keys and to Captain Hook's to do you In-Water Training.

With the information you already provided upon booking this course, a Capt. Hook's dive professionals takes care of everything to get you started. We sign you up for the course and call you to go over any questions you may have. There is no faster way to get started. Start today!

E-Learning Schedule

On-Site Classroom
On-site classroom training is the more traditional method of training. It starts with in-person instruction with videos, quizzes and tests and then proceeds to follow the same path as the E-learning.

For Both Options: Captain Hook’s provides you everything you need to get certified.
That includes all scuba equipment and air for all of your pool sessions and your four open-water checkout dives. Registration and permanent Certification Card is included.
Capt. Hook's works with 5 dive agencies. PADI, NAUI, SSI, SDI and PSS. We will try to best select the instructor and agency that will fit your needs.
