Join E-Ko Tours for an unforgettable dolphin swimming experience in the calm sheltered waters of the Marlborough Sounds — one of New Zealand’s most unique marine wildlife environments. Guided by experienced, WCA qualified marine guides, this small-group eco adventure is designed to create respectful, meaningful, and exciting encounters with wild dolphins in their natural habitat.
Cruise through the scenic Queen Charlotte Sound as we search for Dusky, Bottlenose, Common, Orca, and the rare Hector’s dolphins that frequent this remarkable region. Along the way, you may also encounter New Zealand fur seals, penguins, gannets, shearwaters, and a variety of seabirds while learning about the local marine ecosystem, dolphin behaviour, and conservation efforts from your expert guides.
When conditions and dolphin behaviour are suitable, swimmers will have the opportunity to enter the water for a truly unforgettable wildlife encounter. As a permitted Department of Conservation operator, all interactions are conducted respectfully and under strict wildlife guidelines to protect both guests and marine mammals.
Unlike many dolphin swimming experiences elsewhere in New Zealand, E-Ko operates in the protected waters of the Marlborough Sounds with little to no ocean swell. We are also Picton’s only dolphin swimming operator, meaning there are no competing swim boats sharing the same dolphin encounters. For added comfort and peace of mind, E-Ko is the only operator in New Zealand to offer a No Seasickness Guarantee.
All swimming equipment is provided, including wetsuits, masks, and snorkelling gear. After your swim, warm freshwater showers, hot drinks, and cookies await onboard as you relax on the scenic cruise back to Picton.
Our waterfront base is conveniently located in central Picton, just a short walk from the main street and ferry terminals. Look for the Dusky Dolphin outside our shop and explore our life-size wildlife displays before boarding your purpose-built vessel for this unforgettable small-group marine adventure.

Please note: While this tour operates in sheltered waters, dolphin swimming is still an open ocean activity. Participants should be confident swimming in open water and medically fit to take part. Guests participating in the swim experience will be required to complete a medical declaration and liability waiver prior to departure.

For Dolphin Watching or General Tours, we charge $3500 for up to 14 passengers. Additional 4 passengers can be added at $85 Each.
For a Dolphin Swimming charter on Miss Te Delphinus, we charge $3500 for up to 14 passengers, with Max 14 Swimmers.
A deposit of half must be paid to secure a booking and the remaining balance must be paid before the tour date.



For Private Swim Charters:
• Only 18 swimmers allowed, as per our operating license
• Wetsuits must be at least 5mm thick if they bring their own (otherwise our wetsuits and masks are included in their price)
• 12 to 17-year-olds must have an adult (over 18) with them in the water
• If they are using our wetsuits, they must send their approximate wetsuit sizes prior to their charter day (we have an approximate size chart on the drive here)
• Send them our “Swim Tour Medical + Liability Waiver – Printout” and our “Group Liability Waiver” to sign and send back to us before their tour date

For Dolphin Watching or General Tours, we charge $4500 for up to 24 passengers. Additional 6 passengers can be added at $85 Each.
For a Dolphin Swimming charter on Delphinus, we charge $4500 for up to 24pax, with Max 18 Swimmers and 6 Viewers.
