This unforgettable experience gives you the chance to marvel at the size and grace of these majestic creatures—while also enjoying thrilling encounters with a rich variety of other marine wildlife.

What You May Encounter:
Southern Right Whales (June to late November)

Humpback Whales (May to mid-February)

Bryde’s Whales (seen year-round)

Coastal dolphins including Bottlenose and Common dolphins

African Penguins

Cape Fur Seals

Cormorants, Bank Cormorants, Oystercatchers

And possibly even sharks!

Whether it's the awe-inspiring breach of a whale or the charm of a waddling penguin, every trip offers something unique and unforgettable. Our expert crew and skippers are passionate about marine life and dedicated to giving you the best possible sightings.

Sea-Sickness Prevention

If you're prone to motion sickness or not used to being anchored at sea, we highly recommend taking Stugeron or Dramamine (available over the counter at pharmacies):

Take one tablet the night before your trip

Take a second tablet 1.5 hours before your scheduled meeting time

Avoid alcohol the night before.
Overindulging in alcohol is one of the main causes of seasickness—even for seasoned travelers.

Location - Boardwalk Centre, Main Road, Simon's Town or Hout Bay harbour. This will be confirmed the day beforehand.

When - The service is available from 1 June to mid-February each year.

Weather - ⚠️ Weather Policy.

Please note that this experience is weather dependent for your safety and enjoyment.

We receive the final marine weather forecast each day at 14:00, and the skipper will make the final call on whether conditions are safe to go to sea.

You will receive confirmation or cancellation the afternoon prior to your scheduled trip.

If cancelled, we will do our best to reschedule or offer a full refund (if applicable).

We appreciate your understanding—your safety is our top priority.
