Kendrew Barracks, formerly known as RAF Cottesmore, has a rich history dating back to
1938 when it first became an operational Royal Air Force base. Its expansive runway played a significant role in aviation history, hosting the final flight of the iconic Harrier Jump Jet.
Between 1943 and 1945, it also served as a base for the United States Air Force.
This was named in honour of Major General Sir Douglas Kendrew, a former pupil at
Uppingham School who served in the Royal Leicestershire Regiment. Major General
Kendrew was one of only 11 officers in the Army to be awarded the Distinguished Service
Order, known as the DSO, four times. The order is awarded for highly successful command and leadership during active operations.
Following its formal closing ceremony in 2012, Kendrew Barracks transitioned to its current
role as a satellite facility for RAF Wittering, located in Peterborough. Today, it is home to the British Army’s East of England Multi-Role Brigade.

Single Rally Experience
If you're a budding rally driver this introductory package gives you the perfect opportunity to throw up the dirt in a race-ready rally car! The session gets under way with an introduction to the car and a run through of some of the basic driving techniques, but once you've mastered the essentials it's time to put what you've learnt to the test. You'll be taking on a gravelled section of the circuit which is perfect for powerslides and inspired by some of the best rally stages in the world. So get ready to find out just how hard rallying really is! Important information:
Choose between 6 or 12 laps at next step.
Duration: Allow up to one hour for the 6 laps, and up to 2 hours for the 12 laps experience.

Double Rally Experience
If you really want to test your driving skills this heart-racing rally experience gives you the chance to master the basics of rallying and take on two full throttle rally stages. After mastering some basic techniques such as skid control and handling both understeer and oversteer, you'll be let loose on the track in the race ready rally car. With an experienced instructor by your side you'll take on a gravel/mixed material stage, as well as a tarmac stage. So get ready to put your handling skills to the ultimate test!
