Crystal River: Three Sisters Single Kayak and Snorkeling Tour

WELCOME TO THE HOME OF THE MANATEE Kings Bay is a protected sanctuary, fed by warm freshwater springs, that stay about 22°C (72°F) year-round. When Gulf water cools, manatees gather here to stay warm. Access and wildlife patterns change with season and temperature. We share this information so you can choose the experience that’s best for you.
YOUR ADVENTURE • Guided paddle from Kings Bay Park to the Three Sisters area • Approx. 20-minute paddle each way • Total experience about 2.5 hours • Small group, relaxed pace, conservation-focused guiding
WILDLIFE YOU MAY SEE • Manatees (best manatee viewing opportunities November 15-March 31) • Great blue herons, cormorants, osprey, bald eagles • Tarpon, turtles • Dolphins (occasionally)
MANATEE SEASON is Nov 15-March 31: SPRING ACCESS depends on Gulf water temperature.
When Gulf water is 64°F (18°C) or colder: • Manatee numbers are highest • Three Sisters Springs is often closed to swimmers • Swimming is permitted outside the sanctuary
When Gulf water rises above 64°F (18°C): • Three Sisters and nearby springs reopen • Manatee sightings become less predictable
Colder months = more manatees Warmer water = more clear water swimming access The rare overlap of both depends on timing of cool gulf temps and warm weather and cannot be guaranteed.
BEST TIME TO GO 9:00 AM departures usually offer: • Lighter wind • Less boat traffic • Better overall visibility
WIND GUIDELINES We monitor wind gusts. • Under 10 mph – comfortable • 10–15 mph – moderate effort • 15–20 mph – challenging • Over 20 mph – likely rescheduled
